Journey to law

Carl trained and worked at a large, international law firm where he discovered that employment law as a specialism was what really interested him. The almost infinite variety of clients and people issues mean each day at work is never the same. With a close attention to detail and a belief that asking clients what they really want to achieve equips him to represent large international organisations as easily as individuals. With a wide range of experience acting on behalf of global brands and senior executives, what Carl enjoys in particular is the individuality of tailored legal advice, tactical considerations and truly working in partnership with his clients and their unique cultures.

Simply put, he was brilliant. I felt completely certain at all stages of the negotiations that I could not have been better represented. I have no hesitation in recommending him and the firm.
Senior Executive, Financial Sector
He was professional, informative and extremely caring. I couldn’t ask for anything more.
HR Expert, Financial Sector
Every single time we instruct Jones Chase we receive very professional services. Carl helps us not only understand the legality behind complex employee relations matters but also how to incorporate best HR practice.
UK HR Adviser, International Retail Chain
Employment struck me as needing an element of empathy and human contact.  You can combine ‘black letter law’ and empathy – there’s a human interest. I also remember a presentation by a lawyer who said that after your family, your work relationships are the next most important.
I left a large law firm in 2013 after 8 years (where I met Dean), when I was introduced to him he seemed such a decent person – which is so rare to find. At Jones Chase I have more freedom over my work, the work is varied and I can make a real difference to my clients.
The value and quality of service we give clients is our USP.  We are agile, dynamic and fleet of foot. Everyone’s voice can be heard unlike at big firms. I don’t miss the bureaucracy you get in large firms.
I like thinking, I like the intellectual rigour, tactful consideration. I’m never bored because it’s interesting work.
