Journey to law

Liza explored the world before beginning her journey to law. Having visited over 60 countries, she realised that she wanted to be a lawyer during one of her trips to India.

Following her legal training in London, she qualified in employment law as she was fascinated by the employer-employee relationship and the infinite ways in which it plays out in the real world. No two days are the same.

Liza relishes the challenge of demystifying employment law for her clients and has been doing so for over 12 years.

Liza has provided knowledgeable employment advice to an eclectic mix of UK and international clients. She has assisted small, medium and large corporate clients including Premiership football clubs, AIM and NYSE listed companies, architects, governmental departments, large hotel chains, mining, telecommunications, insurance and technology companies, and a leading manufacturer of puddings. Her individual clients have ranged from care workers and swimming instructors to executive directors of listed companies, leading surgeons and TV personalities.

She provides advice on all aspects of the employment relationship, from recruitment to dismissal and has particular expertise in redundancy exercises, disciplinary and grievance processes, fixed-term workers and terminations at all levels.

Liza’s contentious experience extends to claims in the Employment Tribunal, EAT and the High Court covering most aspects of employment law including claims for unlawful deductions, unfair and wrongful dismissal, discrimination and breach of contract. Liza has also advised on a large variety of corporate transactions, many of which have involved complex TUPE aspects.

It’s a dynamic area where personal relationships matter, not just documents. You’re always learning and employment law is relevant to everyone who works.
Lots of reasons – for me the main one is flexibility and I can do as much work as I like (or am able to). I really like Dean, he’s level-headed, fair and he’s really kind. The team is fun and we care about the work and doing a great job for clients.
